The Reid Family Photo Shoot – Giggles, Cuddles, And So Much Love

There is nothing more rewarding about taking family photographs in Glasgow than the opportunity to photograph families like the Reids. As soon as they walked through the door into our Glasgow studio, I realised we were going to have an absolutely magical shoot.

Jennifer and William arrived with their two adorable little boys—Angus, who is four, and Fraser, who is almost two—and they arrived with so much love, energy, and warmth. Their shoot was a wonderful mix of cuddles, giggles, and a few great solo shots from kidz!
Come behind the scenes on this lovely family photo shoot and see a few of my favourite moments.

A Natural Family Full of Love

When you come across a family that's just full of gentle kindness, you know it immediately. Jennifer and William were just like that. They both had such a chilled, laid-back energy that the entire session just went smoothly.

Jennifer, a complete outdoors person, has such a calming way with her boys. And William was a genius at joining in with the fun, whether it was getting Fraser settled or getting Angus giggling with daft noises!

They're from northeast Glasgow and had been anticipating their shoot for some time. I always make an effort to make things feel cozy and homey here at our Glasgow photography studio, and watching how easily the Reids fit in made my heart sing.

Say hello to Angus – Our Dinosaur-Loving Superstar

Four-year-old Angus was a ball of energy right from the beginning! He was talkative, wide-eyed, and ready to investigate every nook and cranny of the studio. He boasted to me about his favourite things—trucks, dinosaurs, and Spidey and His Amazing Friends. His affection for green and orange was evident in his smile when he caught sight of our props in those hues.

always tell the best thing about toddler photography is catching real expressions—and Angus made it so easy. These unplanned, unscripted moments are just what I strive for—natural family moments that capture who your children really are.

Fraser – Quiet at First, But Full of Surprises

Fraser, almost two, was a bit reserved initially, which is absolutely typical at this age. He clung to Jennifer, observing everything quietly. I always reassure parents not to worry in these situations—every child goes at their own speed.

And true to form, after a few minutes, Fraser started to come out. He began to identify colours (blue is his favourite colour!) and tentatively joined his brother in play. He was particularly fond of our toy vans and teddies, which found their way into a few photographs—something I have always adored. These props aren't simply decorations—they're a part of your child's world, and they tell your family's story.
Seeing Fraser mimic Angus was so sweet. From little things to giggles, it was obvious these two share a special bond. Getting those sibling moments is one of the most heartwarming aspects of any family photo shoot.

Our Approach: Allowing Kids to be Kids

At Glasgow Family Photography, we want kids to relax and be their own amazing selves in the photo shoot. I, therefore, keep the studio atmosphere informal with comfortable lighting, gentle hues, and ample space for them to walk around freely.

For the Reid family shoot, we were simple and real. Plain backgrounds and some props that suited their age helped the boys to play, explore, and bond. No pressure to stay still or hold poses. Natural family moments—ones that you'll treasure forever—were what we were aiming for.

From a cuddle on Mum's knee to a cheeky glance towards Dad, every snap was a part of their story.

Favourite Moments During the Session

There is one picture I just love of Angus Yo-moment, a dinosaur on his shirt, completely being present. Another of Fraser softly leaning on Mum, trusting eyes. And then there is the one of the entire family wrapped in a group hug—one of those photographs where you feel the love radiating through the image.

It's these small, real-life moments that make family photography in Glasgow so meaningful for me. It's never about the perfect pose—it's about capturing connection, personality, and love.

Why Family Sessions Matter

So many times, parents are the ones photographing, but they never get included. That's why a family photo shoot is such a blessing. It's an opportunity to stop, spend time together, and freeze a moment in time before the kids grow another inch or choose a new favorite toy.

The Reids taught me how much these little things matter. The way Fraser held on to Mum at the beginning, and the way Angus boasted about his trucks with us—it's all part of their narrative today. And a few years down the line, they'll be looking at these photos and reliving those moments again.

Book Your Own Session

If this post has you considering your own family pictures, I'd love to invite you into the studio. Whether your children are babies, toddlers, or teenagers, we'll have an easygoing, playful, and full-of-love session.

Thank you to the sweet Reid family for allowing me to share your time, smiles, and lovely story. It was an absolute pleasure to capture you.
